EOFB might not be seen in a bright sky background, though. 8mm--just average for a low priced widefield, with a trace of EOFB at the edge and astigmatic stars 5mm--about the same as the 8mm 3.5mm--I didn't test. WebNov 28, 2005 · Most eyepieces with EOFB have a narrower band around the outside of reduced contrast, and, of course, the edge is round, not square. And often the brightening at the edge is more subtle. But this comes close to the worst case I've seen, and I wanted people who have not seen it to know what it is that those of us who have are seeing. WebJan 19, 2024 · The 4 longer lengths of XWs have positive field curvature, but the 40 has very little, so it should perform quite well. WebSep 21, 2013 · Field curvature is an issue with the telescope itself, a short focal length refractor or an non-Edge SCT has significant field curvature. Mark's 4 inch F/5.5 Doublet would be more than a millimeter out of focus at the edge of a 30mm UWA eyepiece. WebJul 12, 2016 · I then bought a 10mm Baader Hyperion, and when using it alone, there was a substantial amount of edge of field brightening, and the field stop was not in focus, so I tried an experiment. I added a 14mm fine tuning ring, and an empty filter cell and now the edge of field brightening is gone, and the field stop now looks to be in focus.

Maybe in binos it is not that pronounced, I will have to check that out. With that being said, I had a pair of 11mm T6s that I used for binoviewing and I found them to be excellent but I never used them for mono viewing.

It had the most difficult eye placement. It had the worst edge performance and some edge of field brightening.
